LIZA GOODELL, she/her
CO-DIRECTOR, PRODUCTION & COMMUNICATIONS
Liza is responsible for external communications, production and the shared creative vision and strategic direction of the organization. She has worked with Spiral Q for 17 years and has been in this position for the past five years. An accomplished artist, she brings 25 years of puppet and parade making experience and has managed over 75 parades with Spiral Q. Joining the Spiral Q team in 2005, Goodell has been a force in nearly all aspects of the organization’s work including project development and management, parade and production management, all individual giving cultivation and campaigns, puppet commissions and restorations, staff development and management, and facility operations. Goodell has been a guest artist at the Cleveland Museum of Art’s Parade the Circle Celebration for the past 15 years, designing, building, and leading parade performance ensembles for audiences of around 70,000 annually. Her masks and puppets have been on display (The Guggenheim, Cleveland Museum of Art, University City Arts League) and notably a mailbox puppet she created with Spiral Q and Vote that Jawn now has the distinction of being a part of the Smithsonian’s National Museum of American History collection. She has made visuals for bands including Emperor X, Animal Collective, Gemini Wolf, La Palma, and Grandchildren. Goodell holds a B.A. in Graphic Design from American University.
